Why should I spend my holiday at Camping Berggruss?

Camping Berggruss was founded in the 1970s by the Tiefnig family and is now managed in the third generation. Many of our guests have been returning for years. They appreciate the family atmosphere, modern sanitary facilities, clear layout, spacious pitches and the peaceful surroundings in the Upper Drau Valley. Arrive – Enjoy – Feel at Home.

Yes, Camping Berggruss is a family-friendly campsite in Carinthia. There is a playground with swings, a carousel and climbing tower, a table tennis table, a beach volleyball court and spacious pitches. This creates a safe and varied environment for children. No mass tourism, but personal and manageable.

With only 65 pitches, Camping Berggruss is intentionally small and manageable – especially during high season we recommend early enquiries. The minimum pitch size is over 80 m².

Our campsite is surrounded by forests on three sides. In addition, there are shade-providing trees between the rows. This keeps your pitch pleasant even on hot summer days.

Our 65 pitches are parcelled. Subject to availability, you may choose your pitch freely.

Yes, our long-standing guests especially appreciate the comfortable size and clear layout of our campsite. The safety of our guests is also ensured. Ideal for those seeking relaxation and nature without crowds.

Yes, dogs are welcome at Camping Berggruss. Pets must be registered and must be kept on a leash throughout the campsite.

Where is Camping Berggruss located?

Camping Berggruss is located in Berg im Drautal in Carinthia, Austria. Quietly situated in the Alps, the campsite is an ideal starting point for hikers, cyclists and nature lovers.

Yes, the Drau Cycle Path R1 runs in close proximity to the campsite and is suitable for both families and leisure cyclists. It is connected to the campsite via side roads and can be reached within approx. 1 km. Your bicycle can also easily be transported by train.

You can start your hikes directly from the campsite. Both gentle valley walks and more demanding mountain tours are possible.

Berg im Drautal is not only an ideal starting point for cycling and hiking. There are also tennis courts and a golf course within walking distance. Paragliders and hang gliders are warmly welcome at the Emberger Alm, one of the most famous flying areas in Europe. The launch site can be reached from the campsite in approximately 20 minutes.

The famous Weissensee with its clear mountain water can be reached from Berg im Drautal by car in about 15 minutes. Sporty guests can also cycle to the lake.

Yes, especially in spring and autumn Berg im Drautal offers ideal conditions for those seeking peace and quiet, hikers and cyclists. During the low season you enjoy more tranquillity, free choice of pitch and the impressive mountain scenery without crowds – ideal for relaxed hikes and cycling tours. Thanks to Carinthia’s southern location, spring and autumn are often sunny and pleasantly mild.

Booking & Stay

Is there a minimum stay?

No, we are flexible regarding the length of stay and are happy to accommodate your wishes.

Yes, thanks to flexible stay options, Camping Berggruss is also ideal for weekend or short stays in Carinthia.

A reservation is not required. However, during high season we recommend contacting us in advance so that we can offer you a pitch.

When booking directly, you benefit from personal advice, flexible communication and guaranteed transparency without booking fees.

Camping Berggruss has staggered cancellation conditions depending on the time of cancellation. Details can be found in our official reservation and cancellation policy.

Flexibility in payment is important to us. You can pay for your stay either in cash or by card. We accept EC card, Mastercard and VISA.

Arrival is possible from 13:00 after registration at reception. During quiet hours (12:00–13:00 and 22:00–07:00) no new arrivals are admitted.

Departure must take place by 12:00. In case of later departure, an additional overnight fee will be charged.

During high season, our reception team is available from 08:30–12:00 and 13:00–20:00. During low season, opening hours may vary and registration takes place in the evening.

Is the tap water drinkable?

The water in Berg im Drautal comes from a mountain spring and has excellent drinking water quality. You can enjoy fresh water directly from the tap.

Yes, during high season a baker visits us in the morning, where you can purchase fresh pastries for your breakfast.

Yes, arrival by public transport (bus and train) is possible. The train station is approximately 300 metres from the campsite. Camping without a car is therefore possible.

Yes, our guests may use public transport (bus and train) in Carinthia free of charge until further notice. A digital guest card is required, which is issued after registration at reception.

Yes, Camping Berggruss has a 10 × 5 metre pool for guests. Use of the pool is at your own responsibility.

Yes, upon request at reception our guests receive admission tickets for the local outdoor pool with water slide in Berg im Drautal. It is located 500 metres from the campsite and can be reached on foot.

Yes, our guests may use our Wi-Fi free of charge. Sufficient data speed is ensured by fibre-optic internet.

Thanks to free and stable fibre-optic Wi-Fi and the quiet location, Camping Berggruss is ideal for mobile working with a view of lush green meadows and mountains.

Yes, due to the level terrain and wide entrance, our campsite is also suitable for large motorhomes.
